Chapter 42: Grandma’s Illness (2)   Eventually, Grandma gave in and agreed to go.

Knowing that she might have to give blood as part of the examination, Ye Tianxin and her grandmother skipped breakfast.

It was peak travel time for people commuting to and from work, so Ye Tianxin and her grandmother were only able to board the bus after much difficulty.

Although their journey was only a few stops, Ye Tianxin felt like it’d never end!

When they arrived at the hospital, Ye Tianxin first took her grandmother to the area outside the doctor’s office, where she informed the assistant doctor of the purpose of their visit. The assistant doctor then issued Ye Tianxin a stack of test slips and asked her to take her grandmother to get the required tests done.

Ye Tianxin took her grandmother to the test center to have her blood drawn.

After her grandmother’s blood was taken, Ye Tianxin went to the little stall at the entrance of the hospital and bought some milk, eggs, and bread for her grandmother.

“Tianxin, you eat up. I’m not hungry.”

Not wanting to waste such good food on herself, Grandma started to shove it toward Ye Tianxin.

So Ye Tianxin had to resort to saying, “Grandma, I’ve already eaten. I had breakfast when I came here this morning to line up for registration.”

Ye Tianxin settled her grandmother on a bench with her food and then went to the radiology center to register. After she registered, she headed back to the bench and discovered that her grandmother was no longer there.

“Grandma,” she called. “Grandma.”

Ye Tianxin searched everywhere, asking people along the way if they’d seen her grandmother.

But since there was always a constant stream of people coming in and out of the hospital, no one had seen her grandmother.

Ye Tianxin suddenly became worried, afraid that her grandmother might’ve been entrapped by medical scammers!

What should she do if her grandmother had been entrapped by medical scammers?

Ye Tianxin, tears of panic welling up in her eyes, raised her head and noticed a CCTV camera. She asked for directions to the security control room and literally flew there.

Because she was pretty and a sweet talker, the people in the security control room made an exception and checked the videos in the vicinity.

A familiar figure eventually appeared before Ye Tiaxin’s eyes.

When she saw that familiar figure, Ye Tianxin started shaking involuntarily.

It was her.

It was really her.

Ye Tianxin quickly tried to calm herself.

Turning around, she thanked the good-hearted people who had helped her. “Thank you so much.”

Ye Tianxin went to the building where her grandmother had been spotted on the CCTV footage. It was the building that housed the hospital’s wards. Ye Tianxin saw her grandmother in the lobby on the first floor.

“Grandma.”

At that moment, her grandmother hadn’t yet realized that the nice young lady who had lured her there was in fact a scammer.

“Tianxin, there you are.”

“Come along, Grandma. Let’s go get your tests done.”

Seeing that Ye Tianxin was pulling her toward the exit, Grandma asked, puzzled, “Isn’t this the place for ultrasound scans?”

“Nope. It’s in a different location.”

Ye Tianxin didn’t tell her grandmother how terrified she’d been when she discovered that she was missing.

Also, she didn’t want her grandmother to find out prematurely about the existence of that family....

She didn’t want the tranquil life that she and her grandmother enjoyed to be ruined by that family of Lu’s.

After all the tests were completed, Grandma and Ye Tianxin returned to the doctor’s office with the test results. Eyeing the test results in Ye Tianxin’s hand, the doctor commented gently, “The old lady is in pretty good condition.”

Ye Tianxin knew very well that her grandmother wasn’t well at all because, during the ultrasound and CT scans, the doctor had informed her that he could see shadows in certain areas.

“Oh, really? Thank you, Doctor.”

The doctor, sensing that Ye Tianxin was playing along with him, replied, “You’re welcome.”

Walking out of the doctor’s office with Ye Tianxin, Grandma said, “Tianxin, what did I tell you? There’s nothing wrong with my health. You just didn’t believe me.”

To which, Ye Tianxin responded with a smile, “See, Grandma? The medical check-up has given us peace of mind!”
