Chapter 2369: Chased Away (1)

The caregiver wanted to say that Ding Jiayi was lucky to have two daughters. One of them seemed well-off and she was paid quite a fortune to take care of her mother. However, she stopped before she praised the daughters further.
Their mother was in the hospital, so they should at least visit once no matter how busy they were. However, the caregiver had seen children that wouldn’t pay the medical fees needed to save their parents. In comparison, Ding Jiayi’s daughters were definitely not considered unfilial.
Little did she know that her ‘comforting’ words were like a punch to Ding Jiayi’s guts. After hearing about her daughter, Ding Jiayi went from sobbing to bawling once again. “Madam, don’t just cry. Tell me about it. I’m sure we will find a way.”
Lord, this old lady wouldn’t answer any of her questions. What else could she do when communication was impossible?
“I want my daughters to take care of me. I’m not alone. I have two daughters. They have to be taking care of me when I’m sick. Call them! I don’t want anyone else to take care of me.” As long as Qiao Zijin and Qiao Nan would return to her, Ding Jiayi figured that Qiao Dongliang would be back in no time.
Her family could finally be complete again.
It didn’t matter if Qiao Zijin and Qiao Nan were too clumsy to take care of her. Ding Jiayi was too embarrassed to be in the hands of a caregiver when she had two daughters.
The caregiver had no choice. “Fine, should I hand you my phone?”
Patients like Ding Jiayi were not allowed to use a cellphone. However, the caregiver was afraid that her reputation might be damaged if Ding Jiayi just kept crying. She had no choice but to give in.
“Do it for me.” Although Ding Jiayi was throwing a fit, she was still smart enough to know that Qian Nan wouldn’t show up if she were the one making the call. Qiao Zijin might visit her, but Ding Jiayi knew that her only intention would be to see if she could withdraw the deposit.
Qiao Zijin had never done chores in her life. Even if Qiao Zijin wanted to take care of her, Ding Jiayi wouldn’t dare to accept it.
She might never recover under Qiao Zijin’s care.
Ding Jiayi’s main target was Qiao Nan. Qiao Nan was rich and powerful, and most importantly, she would be a good caregiver. As long as Qiao Nan showed up, Ding Jiayi would have everything she needed.
On top of that, Ding Jiayi figured that the only person that could bring Qiao Dongliang back was Qiao Nan. If Qiao Nan was willing to stay by Ding Jiayi’s side, she could take back everything.
“I’m doing it…” The caregiver’s eyes widened in surprise. “Are you sure?”
She had never seen a mother that would ask someone else to contact her daughters. Could it be that the old lady didn’t know how to use a cellphone? That seemed like a reasonable answer until she saw Ding Jiayi’s phone.
It was a smartphone with all kinds of social media and messaging applications installed. In that case, why did she need some else to text her daughters?
Forget it. The caregiver figured that the old lady just had a weird personality. “Madam, is this your contact?” The caregiver pointed at Qiao Zijin’s name.
Ding Jiayi took a glance. “That’s my older daughter, and there’s no need to call her for now. Call my younger daughter.”
“Younger daughter…” The caregiver tried her best, but she couldn’t find anyone surnamed ‘Qiao’ other than Qiao Dongliang. Qiao Dongliang was obviously a male name, and there’s no way it could be her younger daughter’s contact. “Madam, which one is your younger daughter? I couldn’t find it.”
“Are you stupid?” Ding Jiayi glared at the caregiver. “Why do you need my phone to contact my younger daughter? Just call the number that hired you.” Ding Jiayi wanted to have Qiao Nan’s number as well, but that wretched girl wouldn’t leak a single digit to her.
Other than Qiao Dongliang, no one in her family knew Qiao Nan’s number.
Since Qiao Nan hired the caregiver, Ding Jiayi knew that the latter would have Qiao Nan’s number. This time, she was going to get it for sure.
The caregiver’s expression changed. She was here to work, and she was paid for her labor. It wasn’t the first time she encountered rude patients, but someone as weird as Ding Jiayi was sure a rare sight. “A man hired me to take care of you. I don’t know your younger daughter’s contact, and there’s nothing I can do.”
She had never seen the old lady’s younger daughter, so how was she supposed to find her?
“A man? That’s my son-in-law.” Ding Jiayi looked proud. “You have no idea how fortunate my younger daughter was to marry the chief of the capital. If it weren’t for me, there’s no way she could become the chief’s wife. Our relationship is always pleasant as she appreciates me for what she has today. If you have any relative that wants to join the military, you’d better take good care of me. Now, call my son-in-law and get my daughter here. It’s your chance to make a good impression.”
Ding Jiayi didn’t care about lying to a caregiver. There was no way a mere worker would dare to doubt her credibility.. At this moment, her priority was to get Qiao Nan here.
