Chapter 1420 : Personal Plane (Part 1)
Something like that absolutely would not have happened in Metatrin City. Saleen did not get involved with the rebuilding of the Elemental Hand. Internal affairs with the Elemental Hand were still rather messy at the moment. As such, Van Gogh dared to stay inside the core room of the Elemental Hand to meditate to recover his mental powers.
There was no way those three mages would have died despite being thrown to the purgatory plane. The powers of those three would have enabled them to easily hide from the creatures of the purgatory plane, so long as they stayed out of the way of the God of Underworld.
Van Gogh’s level was low enough that he needed to take a long break after using the power of the godly item.
He rose with a bitter smirk from the chair after an hour.
But then again, he had accomplished what he set to do in order to ruin Saleen’s plans. He opened the window and dropped to the ground alongside the window. The tower was over 100 meters tall and there were hardly anyone patrolling in the dark of the night. He go to the ground without problems and the robe he wore turned grey, with a magic marking added to it.
That was a sign of level four mage. The number of such mages was the highest in Alchemy City, preventing him from alerting anyone. He put on the hood and walked slowly, leaving the tower at the core of Alchemy City.
Some mages finally thought something was off after over an hour passed. Why isn’t there anything happening with the three elders meeting with the fallen holy master?
Someone steeled themselves and opened the door, finding no one inside and sounded the alarm immediately.
The Alchemy City was thrown into chaos right away as magic alarms were heard everywhere. However, Van Gogh, who was disguised as a level four grand mage, looked completely natural with the surroundings around him. All of those who had seen his face would have been affected by fallen divine arts and unable to recall what he looked like.
Saleen was not in that plane and the Alchemy City mages did not know how to handle all of that.
Saleen did not expect Van Gogh to get him into trouble as soon as he left. There was no way Van Gogh would have pulled what he did without preparations. It was very dangerous for him to take on three level 11 mages after all. If he was not armed with special godly items, he would have had to take on three level 11 mages at once, and the possibility of him dying from the confrontation would have been very high.
There were many dragon graveyards, with a great majority of them found within the dragon plane. However, like humans, dragons too have traveled all over the crystal wall system. The dragons were able to set up shop and flourished in some planes.
It was especially so in subcontinent planes. It was difficult for the power of humans to reach pinnacle state there, and the effects on the dragons would have been even more profound in the case of the dragons.
Dragons would have built graveyards in such planes, to serve as resting place for their dead.
That plane Saleen was in at the moment was already dead. The coordinates given by the skeletal dragon was not within the inner parts of the dragon graveyard, but on some plains and there was a river before them. If the coordinates were to be skewed just a tiny bit more, Saleen would have been teleported into the water instead.
Saleen did not find any living beings as far as he was able to see. There were not fishes or shrimps or even weed within the river.
The place was filled with deathly aura, prompting the Winged Skull to perform an action mimicking taking deep breaths.
Daniel cast dead soul flame right away, absorbing the power of the plane in a frenzy.
The place was devoid of life and yet it did not turn into a spirit plane. That place was truly somewhere forsaken by the gods.
When a plane became devoid of life other than believers, it was only a matter of time that the plane headed for decay and death, and that was something that would have happened, if the gods in question kept things managed. If said gods were to absorb power of faith without control, then said plane would have ended up aged and eventually dead, within 10 million years at best.
When a plane became dead, their gods would have then forsaken the place. No life would have remained in such a place, and not even the weakest of bugs would have appeared in such a place.
The plane that they were currently in had yet to be thoroughly forsaken, as Saleen found an ancient battlefield.
It was a battlefield that had yet to be cleaned up. Countless bones littered the place at the other side of the river. Metal armors have decayed completely and the very reason the bones were able to remain, was because the plane was filled with deathly powers.
If there were to be soul flames lying about, the plane would have been turned into a spirit plane.
Saleen caressed his own Ring of Cosmos and thought that the skeletal dragon had indeed managed to keep its dead body in one piece.
Saleen had no intentions of going back on his word, as the place was just too perfect. Despite having been forsaken by the gods, it was not due to the place ended up being totally worthless. Or rather, it was due to the abrupt end of the war, and the gods who had taken control of the place were all dead, yet somehow there were no other gods coming to take the place over.
The Winged Skull laughed all of a sudden. Rafel looked at the walking skeleton and felt puzzled.
“Master, I’d like to leave the jade skeletons here,” the Winged Skull requested.
“Oh?”
“I have 12 jade skeletons and they are of very high intelligence, as well as over 1000 golden skeletons. If we were to leave those spirits behind and then gather huge amount of soul flames to seed the place, the jade skeletons would have become gods before long!”
Saleen chuckled. It seemed that the Winged Skull was trying to pull what he did—making their own underlings into gods and thus, enabling them to command gods in battle.
Of course, it was not something that could have been easily done. The Winged Skull was not proposing something like that for the sake of grandeur. That plane had no living beings, which meant that it was unclaimed. If the Winged Skull were to leave soul flames and a bunch of spirits behind, the place would have been developed into a huge spirit plane.
If the gods in that spirit plane were to all become the Winged Skull’s lackeys, the Winged Skull would have been able to easily summon any amount of spirits to fight for them in the future.
The plane would have become that of the Winged Skull.
“If that is what you want to do, go ahead.” Saleen agreed to the Winged Skull’s request. Building a force of spirits on that plane was a decent idea. It was difficult for spirits to become gods, yet spirit gods posed little threat. They needed very few believers and like dragon gods, it was very difficult for them to bring about destruction of a plane.
However, it was extremely difficult for spirit gods to advance. The most powerful spirit god in recorded history was only of level 16.
The spirit plane that the Winged Skull originally resided in had its god killed and became a subsidiary plane of the humans. All spirits became warriors for the humans.
Rafel then asked, “Where is the dragon graveyard? Are we still looking for it?”
She found it increasingly difficult to comprehend human actions. Saleen did not seem to care about the dragon graveyard all that much. However, when he was killing the skeletal dragon, it seemed that he had been very concerned about the graveyard instead.
“Just look around for a bit. We might actually find something.”
Saleen cast his earth elemental movement skill and crossed the river with a single step. He walked past the battlefield and scanned the area with his Elemental Eye, feeling pleased with himself.
While there was little that he would have found useful, the plane was a treasure trove for the Winged Skull instead.
Daniel did not say anything. Saleen told him as he walked, “Daniel, there is little feeling envious. You’re a death mage, not a spirit. That is, unless you want to become a death wizard.”
Daniel shuddered at the thought. Becoming death wizard required one to undergo a memory wipe. That might have been prevented with the Winged Skull around, but becoming a death wizard possessing memories would have been dreadful as well. That was because death wizards possessed no sense of taste, incapable of feeling pain nor joy.
That was akin to torture, as there would have been no end to it.
“You have the coordinates to the plane. Discuss with Bing a little and he might allow you to summon jade skeletons,” Saleen proposed. Daniel looked at the Winged Skull, who flashed a smile at him.
The smile was an eerie one, but Daniel found it amicable nonetheless.
“If you want to summon jade skeletons…”
“Lord Bing, just tell me what you want and I’d do anything,” Daniel answered anxiously.
“Anything?”
“Anything.”
“In that case, we shall talk in detail when we head home. You could summon spirits and nurture them here for a bit too.” The Winged Skull did not get into the conditions right away. They were not easily fooled. While it did not seem like much to summon the jade skeletons, but when the jade skeletons become gods, such summoning would have still been kept intact.
The jade skeletons might not have bothered with Daniel after becoming gods, but due to contractual reasons, they would have sent powerful underlings to help Daniel nonetheless.
With that said, it would have been like Daniel had gods covering his back, enabling him to become a powerful death mage.
That was different with how holy masters operate, as Daniel did not pay the price of faith, while gaining the power of gods all the same.
The Winged Skull needed to think things through with matters like that. Saleen did not ask for him to agree right away and the Winged Skull did not refuse outright, leaving a door open for Daniel.
As for benefits, or rather, the price the Winged Skull would have had Daniel pay, they intended to talk about it with Nailisi. Despite her temperament, Nailisi was nonetheless able to tell who was closer to her. She and the Winged Skull were both bonded creatures of Saleen. If the Winged Skull were to get the short end of the stick, she would have been in trouble as well.
The competition between the two of them was something else altogether.
The coordinates provided by the skeletal dragon were skewed and yet, it did not deliberate do so. That was because planes moved as well, but the speed at which they moved meant that the margin would have hardly been noticeable ever after 100 million years passed.
The plane had been around for too long. Saleen had no idea how the skeletal dragon came to possess the coordinates, but he would be able to see the dragon graveyard soon enough.
The graveyard was obvious, as it was the only building left intact and how it had been, throughout over 3000 kilometers Saleen had traveled.
The gate of the graveyard was made out of black bones, which were from skulls of fallen dragons, which would have stayed intact forever.
However, there was something else on it that decayed—the inscriptions of the black skull were so badly decayed that they were unreadable. The power of time still worked in that plane after all.
Saleen slowed down and walked into the tall gate of the graveyard, at very slow speeds.
He expended his power of the soul. The graveyard was so huge that even Saleen’s senses did not enable him to see the end of the place. He estimated the place to be thousands of kilometers long.
“Master…” The Winged Skull asked and Saleen nodded. The Winged Skull then summoned their 12 jade skeletons and over 1000 golden skeleton cavalry.
Every jade skeleton led over 100 golden skeletons and spread out, searching for dangers within the dragon graveyard. Their powers of the summoned skeletons rose exponentially. The soul flames in their eye sockets seemed to be about to take solid shapes.
Dragons did not bury their dead. In usual circumstances, there would have been ghost dragons looking after the graveyard, yet there were no ghost dragons found in that plane. There were only tall, large bone remains lying quietly at the side of the road, as if they were weird fauna growing out of the ground. Wisps of green flames flashed in the bones.
Only dragon bones would have still had phosphorous fires even after being around for over 100 million years. The innate magic patterns on the bones continued to absorb deathly powers, which circled around the bones and the surrounding air.
